I’m a student in my early 20s studying illustration at the University of Dundee, DJCAD. I was born and raised in Glasgow where I developed my passion for art. I didn’t know a lot about Illustration growing up, obviously I was aware of it but It wasn’t something I knew I could specialise in. But when I learned about it, it just clicked. I have a preference for working in Narrative based illustration, Writing and drawing stories. I enjoy telling stories of my heritage (with my family being from Ireland) as well as a love for Greek Mythology and illustrating myths, particularly those centred around women in mythology.
I have skills in a variety of mediums from painting to drawing and digital work. I have completed some commission work mostly working in family portraits, pets and the occasional landscape.

How I work
Every project starts with sketch-booking. Beginning with a Mind map and then narrowing down ideas. Many pages are filled with thumbnails, torn out in frustration and annotated with ramblings. eventually landing on an idea that is worth pursuing.
I move on to working through how I can achieve the best for that idea. Usually through media testing of different paints, types of linework, printmaking and pencilling. The final works typically end up hand drawn/ painted with gouache, ink and coloured pencil. they are then scanned in to add some digital flourish!
The digital work I do is usually minimal. Either colour correcting in Photoshop or adding small details such as highlights in Procreate. I also use digital media to add text or support hand- drawn text.
Finally, Ta-Da! the piece is done and I can remember what sleep feels like.
